  • An attack on US strongholds throughout Southern Vietnam by the VC
  • Eventually developed in a US Victory
  • Shook the Public, who thought the enemy was close to defeat

  • LBJ struggles-Congress cuts the Great Society budget
  • US involvement in the war is openly criticized
  • New defense states that the war seems impossible to win
  • Announces he won't run again even if you ask me to run in the election, because he feels he has lost his power (March 31, 1968)
  • Nation is turning against LBJ
April 4...
  • April 4, 1968-MLK is shot
  • Race riots triggered across the Nation

RFK...

  • Takes the leadership role (also JFK's brother)
  • He decides go for president
  • Then, he was assassinated in June
